The Former Sri Lankan skipper Kumar Sangakkara became the fifth and the fastest batsman to reach 12,000 Test runs.
The 37-year-old, who is regarded as one of the greatest batsman in the test cricket - joins the elite 12000 runs club with the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Jacques Kallis and Ricky Ponting.
He achieved the milestone in his 224 Test innings, which is 23 innings lesser than the legendary Sachin Tendulkar and Ricky Ponting.
Sangakkara averages more than 58 in 130 Tests including 37 centuries.
